From January to September of this year, Asia accounted for 41% of the volume of Brazilian sparkling wines exported. The expectation is that businesses will total US$ 300,000 over the next 12 months
Brazilian wine will be present, for the third consecutive year, in the main fair of the sector in China between the 13th and 15th of this month. The fifth edition of ProWine in the country takes place in Shanghai and will receive the companies Aurora, Bueno Wines, Canção, Casa Perini, Miolo, Peterlongo e Salton, which are part of the Wines of Brazil and 100% Grape Juice of Brazil. China is one of the target countries of the two sectoral projects developed by the Brazilian Wine Institute (Ibravin) in partnership with the Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
In the first nine months of this year, Asia accounted for 41.6% of the total Brazilian sparkling wines exported with a shipment of 73.3 thousand liters, totaling US$ 222,300. The main buyers are Singapore, China and Japan. Projects are estimated to be worth about US$ 300,000 in the next 12 months as a result of the fair, which is expected to receive more than 16,000 people. One of the goals is to expand the market in the Chinese marketplace, one of the fastest growing in consumption in the world. From January to September, China increased imports of Brazilian sparkling wines by 73.2%, with US$ 57,100 of trades.
Ibravin Promotion Manager, Diego Bertolini, highlights the number of Brazilian wineries in this edition of the fair, totaling seven companies, and emphasizes the good result obtained in the sale of sparkling wines, especially the Muscat, in the Asian market. Bertolini says that grape juice has also fallen in the taste of the Chinese, who are increasingly seeking to consume healthy products. “It is important to point out that ProWine attracts audiences from several Eastern countries, so it is also an opportunity to prospect distributors and expand the Brazilian wine space, especially with the focus on sparkling wines in which we have been working emphatically on this market,” explains.
Actions on the continent will continue after the ProWine China participation. On the 19th of this month, Wines of Brazil and the Embassy of Brazil in Japan will promote a masterclass for guests focused on sparkling wines. Sommelier Maurício Roloff will talk about Brazilian producing regions and will conduct a tasting of the Brazilian bubbly in which he will talk about the characteristics, diversity and quality of the national labels.
