Considered the country’s main fair, the initiative will count on the presence of six green-yellow companies at the Wines of Brasil group stand. Expectation is that US$ 500,000 in business will be made.
Six member wineries of the sector project Wines of Brasil are in the Asian continent to participate in ProWine China, which occurs from Tuesday (14) to Thursday (16), in Shanghai. Projection is to amplify the market for Brazilian wines in one of the countries that grows the most in consumption, to insert the category of 100% grape juices, in addition to positioning itself strategically in one of the target countries of the initiative developed by the Brazilian Wine Institute (Ibravin) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Agency (Apex-Brasil). The wineries Aurora, Miolo Wine Group, Mioranza, Peterlongo, Salton, and Vinhos Canção will be at the group stand.
According to Wines of Brasil’s estimates, presence at ProWine China should result in US$ 500,000 in sales. Performance should surpass trade performance from the first participation in the fair, in November 2016, when the Brazilian companies estimated US$ 410,000 in sales in the 12 following months. Between November 2016 and September of this year, US$ 403,000 in national winery products have been traded, with 128,500 liters exported. From January to September of this year, Brazilian exports grew 132% in volume and 38% in value, if compared to the same period in 2016, when 43,500 liters were sold, achieving US$ 230,800 in business.
“We are looking to prospect for distribution in the Chinese market, aggregate value to Brazilian labels, especially to sparkling wines, and looking for new entry with the 100% grape juice category. Four wineries will be present with business owners from Brazil and two through importers. For 2018, we expect our exports to the country to grow 30% in value,” remarks Ibravin’s Promotion manager, Diego Bertolini.
Besides its presence at ProWine China, Wines of Brasil articulated strategic meetings in Shanghai. The agenda, developed with the support of the Apex-Brasil Offices (EAs) in China and Brazil’s Trade Promotion Sectors Abroad (Secom), began this Monday (13), at the Brazilian consulate in Shanghai, with information being exchanged and preparation of the Brazilian team and dynamics of the Chinese market. On Friday (17), the member wineries of the project will visit supermarkets, restaurants, and chains to understand business, in addition to prospecting for spaces to sell 100% grape juices.
About Wines of Brasil
Created in 2002, Wines of Brasil (WoB) is a trade promotion initiative of Brazilian wines, sparkling wines, and grape juice in the external market, developed between Ibravin and Apex-Brasil. The project currently counts on the participation of 40 wineries and has the United States, United Kingdom, and China as target markets. In recent years, nearly 95% of the companies that joined WoB were able to continue with their exports, due to the support and training programs offered, among other actions.
